Happy Summer Everyone !
Time keeps slipping, slipping . . . into the future. . . . . !
Well really, it just keeps getting away from me. It's been a while since my last proper news entry. I'm surpised how busy it can be since becoming a full-time musician in early 2014. There really just are barely enough hours in the day to get everything done!
Some sad news. . . this past March, our music community here in Kitchener and Guelph lost another veteran musician and dear friend, the inimitable Mr. Mo' Kauffey. I met Mo back in the late '90s at Matt Osborne's (RIP) Tuesday night open mic at the now defunct Circus Room. Mo' was a gentle spirit, always with a smile and easy-going manner - and loved his country-blues roots music. A band of local musicians and friends of Mo's are pulling together to finish Mo's last album. More on that soon I hope !
As for me, the new album Songs of Rain, Snow and Remembering (Busted Flat Records 2016) has been well received across Canada and Europe. After a short jaunt out in Western Canada in February, I've got more touring plans in the works. Stay tuned to the dates page for more details !
And . .. a side project of mine that's been in the works for a few years now is finally starting to come together ! A batch of electric, rock a'la-'90s-style songs I've written is finally getting the full-band treatment. The band, Shipwreck Radios, will have it's debut performance on Sat. June 25 opening for fantastic Toronto Busted Flat artist Alun Piggins on Sat. June 25 in Kitchener at KWBoathouse! There are plans for an album as well, which I hope will be out by the year's end.
The local shows keep on coming, as well as the short weekend jaunts to great rooms in Ottawa, Picton, Campbellford and Montreal. So keep an eye on the dates page and I hope to catch up with you at a show sometime soon !
Lynn Jackson On Tanyarock !
The lovely and talented singer-songwriter Tanya Philipovich has a section on her Tanyarock website where she interviews musicians she's a fan of.
She just did a profile of Lynn which you can find here !

Spring is here !
Wow - what a long, cold, snowy winter that was eh ?
Despite the weather, it was a busy winter with some benefit shows (Sick Kids, Voices Carry) , trips to play in Owen Sound, Ottawa and then putting in some time locally around K-W, Guelph, Brantford . . .etc.
February was a tough month - and the music community here is still reeling from the untimely death of our good friend Steve Toms - fantastic bass player, having played in many local bands over the years and most recently with Busted Flat blues-rockers Daddy Long Legs. I knew Steve for 15 years and he was always passionate about music, playing live and seeing bands. We're really, really going to miss his mischievous, fun-loving personality and his talent. RIP my dear friend. I hope you're hanging out somewhere with Matt Osborne - another great local talent taken from us way too soon.
In recent weeks, I've been working on two separate projects: a new album of acoustic material with Teenage Fanclub's Norman Blake; and a more electric band album with the help of my longtime drummer Andy Miller and local talents Scott Fitzpatrick and Ryan Allen. Stay tuned for more details.
The spring into summer will be busy as well, with shows in Hamilton, Guelph, another visit to the National Capital Region, Canadian Music Week and more. Check out the 'Dates' page for all the specifics.
The talented Mr. Duane Rutter just helped me complete videos for 4 new acoustic songs, with the help of Guelph's Latent Image Design - and as the editing is being finished, some good reviews have been coming in from Europe for The Acoustic Sessions album. Skip over to the Press page and have a look see.
That's about all the updates for now.
Go out and take in some local shows - support local musicians and venues at the same time - and don't forget your local record store ! Record Store Day is coming up quick on April 18 ! Head down to Encore Records across from the Kitchener Market and pick up some limited edition vinyl ! http://www.encorerecords.ca
Bye for now . . . . .
